Klára Hajdu is one of Hungary’s most prominent jazz singers, songwriters, and one of the most respected vocal coaches. She currently teaches jazz singing at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. Over the last 20 years, she has performed in numerous clubs and festivals across major cities in Europe and the USA. Her unique voice and the distinctive sound of her quartet, which has gone through several line-up changes since 2008 but continues to evolve, have become a trademark. The Klára Hajdu Quartet has been an established band in the jazz scene for 17 years, with its current members – Gábor Cseke, Márton Soós, Ambrus Richter – all top jazz musicians. Their albums are distributed in Japan, played on radio stations from Europe to Mexico, and streamed by fans in over 30 countries and two of their albums were nominated for the Hungarian Grammy.
Since 2010, Klára has released albums under her own name. Her original composition “You’re Gonna Rise” – arranged with her husband, Milán Szakonyi – was elected into the top 30 hits of “A DAL 2019”, the Hungarian selections of Eurovision Song Contest. Since then, Milán and Klára have continued to create and perform together with their increasingly popular acoustic duo.
